For those of you who know my oldest son, know that for the past 2 years he has wanted...... A PIG! "I want a tiny Wilbur"..."i love the baby pigs to hold like this (mocking holding a baby)....."I want a baby Wilbur that I can hold all the time, not a big Wilbur" ...."I don't want a Wilbur mama unless he is all white" "no mam I don't want a pig with spots, only all white like Wilbur" PIcky just a little? For his 4th birthday party his request was for a "Painting Pig Party" and that is exactly what we had. Over the past year we have looked at pigs for sale and showed Grayson pictures and everyone we showed him it was always the same answer, "no I want an allllllllllllll white pig, just like Wilbur" (he is referencing Charlotte's Web here). So when I stumbled across the all white, 6 week old baby pig, potty trained and wearing sweaters because it was totally domesticated it was the perfect fit for our family! I called the lady told her we would be tby this evening, THEN called Jamey told him to go pick it up- and then told Grayson there was a Surprise coming his way that night. I sat Grayson in the floor and in walked Jamey with Wilbur (well Grayson had not named him at this point) Grayson took one look and said "oh mama!!! I always wanted my very own pig!!" (in the biggest hick voice I have ever heard) Now..... lets rewind back 5 years ago BEFORE kids. A pig.... at my house? NO way! A pig IN my house NO way! Yes we DO tell our children no.... often actually, and probably more than most parents. I consider us pretty strict parents. Jamey and I are on the exact same parenting path and we both are pretty strict- in a SUPER loving way. BUT Wilbur seemed like the perfect fit for our family and I love the happiness it brings to his face EVERY day...... when he goes into my LAUNDRY ROOM to see him. Yes folks..... thats right, my LAUNDRY ROOM. 6 weeks old, too cold to survive the winter, too small to survive the coyotes. So his new home is the laundry room, so cute, so sweet, and surprisingly so quite!! Let fast forward 3 weeks.... he is now 8 weeks old, Jamey is building the barn with my dad, and Josh my brother-in-law. The pig is still sweet, but I am ready to have my laundry room back. What great men I have in my life!!! All in all- I love Wilbur. He is SO cute and the boys LOVE playing with him. All the friends that have brought their kids over to see him have all loved him and the happiness he brings to so many make me happy. This baby pig is gunna' be a big one- so I hope the boys love him as much when he is big and ugly!!Sunday, January 30, 2011
